I must say, I am quite disappointed with my experience at the auction house. They declined to assist me in loading the couch into my van, and upon further inspection, I noticed some additional damage to the sofa that was not present during my initial viewing. Furthermore, I was taken aback by the 20% VAT and 20% buyer charge added on top of the bidding price. It seems that whatever you bid on ends up costing a whopping 38% more than anticipated.

Warning! Stay away from this auction house. The staff is incredibly rude and they add on extra fees on top of the 40%. They sell low-quality items and I ended up losing a significant amount of money. Even after reporting these issues to them, I didn't receive any response. It's frustrating to bid on what you think are new items, only to find missing or damaged items when you open the boxes. You're basically throwing your money away. This is unacceptable and I'm considering reporting them. Be cautious as items may arrive broken, so bidding here is a risk. Steer clear, folks!

I purchased a dehumidifier last Tuesday morning after seeing it on Monday, and what a complete disappointment. When I went to collect the item, it was just hanging out of the box at the front of the warehouse. Upon closer inspection, when I lifted it out of the box, the base fell out of the casing - the plastic was shattered and the wire was severed. It was evident that the box had been dropped, as the bottom of the dehumidifier was cracked and falling through. It was only suitable for the trash.
It was a futile exercise to view the item beforehand. Why would anyone spend money on scrap? There is no guarantee that what you see is what you get. Where are our consumer rights? I should have just donated the money to charity. I feel utterly cheated and disappointed, especially since I live locally.

Do not be deceived by the illusion of a great bargain. Many items come with an extra 42% in fees on top of the initial bid amount. Essentially, you end up paying close to the full price for previously owned goods.

If you can't physically inspect items, I wouldn't recommend bidding online unless they're brand new and sealed. From my experience winning three auctions, two items arrived damaged, not mentioned in the brief descriptions or shown in the photos. One item even turned out to be non-functional due to the undetected damage. When I reached out to John Pye, they simply referred me to their terms and conditions, stating that buyer viewing is advised and they do not offer refunds. It's unclear whether the damage was pre-existing since the photos didn't capture the affected areas, or if it occurred during packing and shipping, but this doesn't seem to concern them.

I strongly advise against making any purchases from these individuals! They are selling Samsung tablets that are locked and do not reimburse for postage or return shipping. Additionally, they are selling damaged items without disclosing that they are not in working condition and are unwilling to issue refunds. Please take caution when engaging with this seller!

"Should you have wished to verify its functionality, you ought to have attended the viewing and done so in person," they say. And yet, they forbade me from collecting the piece myself, opting to levy a £10 fee for shipping an item no larger than a phone booth.
