Marks and Spencer: A Quick Visit to Aberdeen's Supermarket

Marks and Spencer (M&S) in Aberdeen is a renowned destination for shoppers seeking quality food, clothing, and accessories. This supermarket combines an accessible layout with a wide variety of offerings that cater to diverse customer needs, including those who are LGBTQ+ friendly.

In-Store Shopping Experience

The layout of Marks and Spencer is well-designed, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park. Shoppers can comfortably navigate through the aisles, which are well-stocked and neatly arranged. However, some customers have noted that accessibility can be limited by certain items impeding aisles, particularly for those requiring more space while navigating.

Food Hall Highlights

One of the standout features of M&S is its food hall. Customers rave about the great produce, which includes fresh fruits, high-quality meats, and an extensive deli section offering hot meats and gourmet cheeses. The food hall is described as “a food lover’s heaven,” making it an attractive option for anyone looking to elevate their grocery shopping experience.

Service Options and Payments

Marks and Spencer provides various service options including in-store pick-up and delivery. For convenience, NFC mobile payments and debit card transactions are accepted, although some complaints have been raised regarding issues with overcharging at self-service tills. Unfortunately, cash-only transactions have also occurred, leading to confusion among shoppers.

Cafe Experience and Customer Service

While the cafe at M&S serves a range of food items such as sandwiches and breakfasts, experiences can vary. Some patrons note that the menu may be limited, but others have enjoyed their meals. Reviews indicate inconsistent customer service, with outstanding experiences reported alongside disappointing ones. Staff like Simon received high praise for their helpfulness, reinforcing M&S's commitment to excellent customer service.

Accessibility and Inclusivity

Marks and Spencer strives to be inclusive, catering to a diverse demographic. Although there are efforts to create an LGBTQ+ friendly environment, challenges remain, especially regarding the assistance offered to individuals needing help in locating products. Some customers have noted difficulties with signage and staff availability.

Conclusion: A Mixed Bag

Overall, Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen presents a unique shopping experience combining quality goods and customer service. While prices may be higher than competitors, many shoppers find value in the premium offerings, particularly in the food hall. However, consistent customer service and accessibility improvements are needed to enhance the shopping experience further. For shoppers in search of a variety of food options and quality clothing, M&S remains a great option to consider during your next quick visit.

This supermarket is top-notch for indulgent food finds! While a full shopping trip might be a bit pricey, the premium quality of certain luxury products definitely makes it worth the occasional visit!
Abigail Martin (20/08/2025, 01:01):
The service is absolutely rubbish when it comes to the phone system, it's all about voice recognition which is a total mess. I tried three times and had to hang up in the end. This is completely unacceptable, especially for those who can't simply pop into town to check on something before going there.
Alan Butler (18/08/2025, 22:34):
While not the most budget-friendly option around, Supermarket offers reasonable prices for top-notch goods. I must say, I'm quite taken with their extensive selection of pre-made and partially prepped meals. The sandwiches are top-notch too - I always aim to score a deal right before closing time!
Matthew Murphy (17/08/2025, 16:47):
I popped into M&S Bank for a bit of assistance, and let me tell you, the woman who helped me was top-notch. She really went the extra mile and took the time to assist me. She made it look effortless, as if she was genuinely pleased to help out. Cheers to her!
Danielle Stewart (13/08/2025, 00:16):
This shop is absolutely fantastic! They have a wide selection of clothes, jewelry, perfume, and accessories for women, men, and children. The layout is very well done and visually appealing. The food hall is amazing, with a variety of foods from here and around the world. The deli offers a great selection of hot meats like sausages and chicken, as well as cold meats like honey ham, roast beef, and various cheeses and pies. It's a paradise for food lovers! There's a cute little coffee shop downstairs and a café upstairs. The store also has in-store bathrooms, a click-and-collect service, and a bank upstairs. The disabled access is excellent for everything except for one thing - some of the women's clothes downstairs are placed high up, which can be difficult to reach for wheelchair users or shorter individuals. But the staff are more than willing to assist if you ask them. I highly recommend paying a visit to this place. During my visit, I discovered some amazing food at the deli, some of which I had never heard of before but smelled absolutely delicious. I also treated myself to some lovely flowers.
Gabriel Foster (08/08/2025, 23:27):
Fantastic place for groceries, but the recent overhaul of the store's interior has left it looking rather dreary, I must say. It's a pity, as this store used to have such a lively atmosphere and was always bustling. It seems like yet another example of the city center losing its character.
Gary Ortiz (08/08/2025, 21:55):
A fantastic spot for shopping! They cater to both the young and the old with a diverse selection of clothing. The food hall is simply splendid, and the café boasts some truly delectable cakes!
Anthony Lopez (08/08/2025, 06:00):
Just got back from my trip to M&S, and can you believe it, I was charged nearly £10 extra at the self-checkout! You'd think the machine would notice I didn't pick up 4 packs of ham and 3 bunches of bananas.
Roy Rodriguez (08/08/2025, 03:39):
You'll find all you need right here, it's like a department store. Only top-notch goods can be found.
Given the clientele they cater to, the tidy aisles and cleanliness offer a pleasant and laid-back shopping ordeal. M&S leads in customer service, I can personally attest to that.
Upstairs you'll discover the café, which is just as excellent.
Stephanie Howard (07/08/2025, 11:04):
I must say, I had a rather disappointing experience at the restaurant for my late lunch yesterday. I had ordered and paid for a baked potato with chicken and bacon, along with a decaf latte. However, as I was waiting for my coffee, a young lad informed me that they had run out of baked potatoes. The girl suggested I have a toastie instead, which I agreed to.

Upon reflection, I realized a few things. Firstly, I believe I should have been informed at the time of ordering that they were out of baked potatoes. Secondly, I feel that I should have been offered the price difference between the two items, at the very least. And lastly, an apology for what I now perceive as subpar service would have been appreciated.
Emily Jones (04/08/2025, 14:35):
Fantastic clothing items, striking the perfect balance between affordability and quality materials.
Bobby Johnson (04/08/2025, 10:54):
What on earth has become of the good old simple t-shirt? I've been a faithful customer of M&S for its delightful, robust cotton material. However, this year they seem to have switched to a much thinner cotton. Quite disappointing, really.
Louis Cooper (04/08/2025, 04:48):
Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen is truly a fantastic addition to the local shopping scene. Situated right smack dab in the city center, this store boasts a wide array of top-notch products.

The store's layout is top-notch, boasting clear signage and neatly organized sections that make locating items a breeze. The shelves are consistently stocked and items are of superb quality.

A true gem at Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen is the food hall. Stocked with fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and ready-to-eat options, this is a prime spot for those seeking premium groceries.

Beyond the food hall, Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen offers various amenities such as a bakery, cafe, and clothing department. The clothing selection is particularly noteworthy, featuring chic and high-quality choices for all ages.

The staff at Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen are friendly and helpful, delivering stellar customer service. They are well-versed in the products and always ready to lend a hand to shoppers.

While prices at Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen may lean towards the higher end, the exceptional quality of the products justifies the expense. Overall, Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen is a top choice for those in search of superior groceries, apparel, and home goods. I wholeheartedly recommend this store to anyone in the vicinity.
Andrew Gonzalez (03/08/2025, 11:23):
I went back to the store due to a service complaint, but I am giving it a 4-star review because the woman's wear Coordinator managed to resolve the issue. She went the extra mile to ensure that the replacement was satisfactory.

I also had a chat with the banking staff who were located at the tills. There was no pressure to bank with them or buy any products, but they provided me with the information I needed. They even followed up with a call, again without any pressure, and I have now started the process to change my banking accounts.

What could have been a negative review turned into a positive one. However, I do have some ongoing issues. The store lacks a full range of sizes in stock, which means I always have to order and either pay for home delivery or return to the store to collect. This is not easy for me as I am disabled.

The access around the aisles for wheelchair users is very poor as the stock impedes into the aisles. I have highlighted this issue several times with no improvement.

Another reason for my lower rating is that the store advertises a new curve range, but it is not available in-store. If I were a size 6, I would be able to see, feel, and try on the clothes in the store. Due to health reasons, I am plus size, and I should have the same right to access the range in-store.

Being plus size is not always a choice, often it is due to health and medication reasons.
Patricia Bailey (02/08/2025, 12:20):
A spacious emporium spanning three floors. The ground level houses a bustling food hall and a stylish ladies' fashion section, while the next floor up boasts a delightful selection of lingerie, children's attire, and beauty products. On the top floor, you'll find a dapper array of menswear along with a cozy cafe. The clothing and lingerie offerings are quite broad and appealing. The food hall is a real gem, featuring a delightful deli counter stocked with an assortment of tantalizing treats like ready-made salads and scrumptious pies. Conveniently connected by central escalators and lifts for easy navigation. The affable staff are always eager to assist, and the interior is bright and airy with neatly arranged displays.
David Robinson (02/08/2025, 10:02):
Always fully stocked, from the grocery department to all kinds of clothing, at great prices and high quality.
Jesse Rodriguez (29/07/2025, 15:32):
Great quality as always, but I noticed there were fewer staff members available on the shop floor to assist customers. I had to wait in line at the checkout just to ask for help, which was a bit inconvenient. I was looking to purchase a formal shirt, however, the only options available to me had crushed collars from being pressed down during transit. This certainly isn't the level of service I expect. Despite this, I decided to go ahead and buy the shirt, hoping to fix the collar issue at home.
Samantha Alexander (28/07/2025, 16:05):
Absolutely adore shopping at this establishment! The quality of their products is top-notch. Couldn't be more thrilled with the fragrance I purchased and those watermelon slices at the food court are simply exquisite! ❤️
Chloe Gomez (26/07/2025, 07:39):
I must say, I was rather taken aback in a pleasant way. I've always perceived M&S as rather traditional. However, there is actually some really trendy and modern items here. I will definitely be adding it to my list of preferred shops from now on.
Jerry Cruz (24/07/2025, 18:08):
Due to ongoing maintenance, only the ground floor is currently accessible, which can be quite limiting. However, the staff are making a real effort to assist customers during this time.
